Introduction to the RDF Feeding Process

The cement industry faces the challenge of reducing fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. Refuse-derived fuels (RDF) offer an eco-friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuels. A precise and consistent supply of these fuels is crucial to maintaining stable temperatures in the calciner and ensuring an efficient production process.

The RDF Feeding Process: How It Works

1

Material Reception and Storage

The process starts with the reception and storage of RDF material. Modern receiving bunkers like the MovingFloor can store large quantities of material (up to 500 m³) and allow for easy loading via front loaders or trucks.
2

Pre-Dosing and Material Preparation

After storage, the material is transported for pre-dosing using a chain belt conveyor like the ChainCon. This ensures an even material distribution and can be equipped with an equalizing drum for further material preparation.
3

Fine Dosing

Precise dosing is critical for maintaining consistent combustion temperatures. A fine dosing conveyor like the DoseCon measures the throughput accurately and adjusts the conveyor speed to ensure the desired material flow.
4

Transport to the Preheater Tower

Transporting RDF material over long distances is ideally done using a pipe conveyor like the PipeCon. This system is dust-tight, minimizes wear, and ensures reliable material delivery to the preheater tower.
5

Integration into the Calciner

The final step is transferring the material into the calciner. Precise transfer systems are necessary to optimize material delivery and maintain stable combustion temperatures.
